VETERANS DAY CONCERT

VETERANS DAY CONCERT 2024

We are excited to inform you that we will be hosting our third annual Veterans Day concert at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH.

The 39th has partnered with New Hampshire's school music departments for the past two years to celebrate Veteran's Day with a combined concert at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH.

After much success, we are excited to let you know that we are extending our invitation to music directors and instructors to participate as musicians!

This year, we will select 30 of the best NH high school/college musicians and 5-10 music directors for this meaningful and unique opportunity to celebrate our Nation's Veterans and their loved ones.

Due to high demand, we will be accepting high school nominations for Juniors and Seniors only. However, we welcome all to attend this free concert.

We will accept student nominations for Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Rock Band (to include lead vocals, keyboard, and lead electric guitar). We will select nominees based on music educators' recommendations, students' skill levels, and the needs of our ensembles. The 39th Army Band will reserve the right to approve nominations for this event. We are especially interested in speaking to choral music educators to discuss the potential of a choral feature to our show!

We will be opening our registration period in the fall. Please see the key dates:

We will send out registration materials and workshop information as we get closer to the registration period. We hope you and your great students join us for this fabulous fall event. We highly encourage that you fill out this newsletter sign up to get up-to-date announcements about registration!

On Nov 11th, 2022, the 39th Army Band with the gracious support of the Capitol Center for the Arts, the William H. Gile Trust, and several High Schools from around the State of NH, put on its first combined concert in honor of Veterans Day. The performance showcased multiple ensembles, and over 50 musicians on stage, including high school students, local professional musicians, and our Army musicians.

The evening performance, which drew more than 1,200 people, signified the start of a new partnership between the New Hampshire Army National Guard band, band directors from local High Schools, and the state’s largest and most diverse entertainment venue. The show was presented as part of the William H. Giles Trust Concert Series.

The event was a great success. The night’s final song, “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” earned a standing ovation and endless applause.

Here are a few testimonies from our performers:

“I love performing with younger musicians and getting the opportunity to mentor junior music students. I hope we get the privilege to do this every year and build a lifelong connection with the schools.” SGT Lily Rousseau, 39th Army Band, Jazz Band Bassist.

“I was very delighted when I was invited to perform tonight. It gives us a great opportunity to honor the veterans. It’s really invaluable and priceless to any student in my book” Dan Lorenz, guitarist, and educator at Timberlane Regional School District.

“I’m proud of the soldiers for their professionalism and their teamwork to put together the show in three months and two, long drill weekends on top of our other performance commitments,” “It’s their belief in the cause that made this possible.” CW2 Montenegro
